that’s just one of many brilliant quotes from what i truly believe to be one of the best(and horribly underrated) tv series in boob tube history.  for those unaware, i’m referring to a show that ran on nbc from 2000-2004… Ed.

in a nutshell, here’s the plot : “Tom Cavanagh plays Ed Stevens, a hot shot New York City lawyer, who, upon finding out that his wife is cheating on him, moves back to his hometown of Stuckyville where he buys the local bowling alley and sets up his new law practice. Ed tries to win back Carol Vessey, the woman of his dreams, only to find it is more difficult than it seems.”

there’s so many great things about this show i can’t even begin to list them all here…hmmm, i may have just inspired another blog topic for myself!

anyways, what does Ed has to do with my ‘twbnth’ list? well let me tell you, good people of the tundra.

we live in an age where literally every tv series gets a dvd set released seemingly within minutes of it’s season finale.  an age where even if a show is crap and gets canned after 6 episodes, that program’s mourning fans can still own the ‘entire series’ before their tears have even dried.  an age where nickelback is still popular for some reason despite making the same terrible record over and over again!! (ok that last point had nothing to do with the topic at hand, it just really erks me to no end)

the point of all this ranting? you ask, well let me tell you.  in the midst of all this garbage being put out by studios, no Ed dvds yet exist!!  4 seasons of dramedic brilliance just sits on the shelf somewhere at nbc just begging to be converted to dvd format and thrust into the marketplace.

and it’s not only the show itself that’s begging to be on dvd, we the fans have been dying, aching and pleading to the powers that be to realease the set for years now.  check out this petition .  over 12,000 people signed so far.  if they release the complete 4 season box set at around $70 each, let’s say….that’s like…..erm….well it’s at least $100 in nbc’s pocket!!(ok my math sucks, but come on nbc, with the poor state of your shows these days [cough cough Heroes cough Leno Show cough cough] i think you could use that pocket change)

the people demand Ed on dvd!  do what’s right nbc!  make it so!!!

today’s twbnth item #4 is a private box at Joe Louis Arena, home of the Stanley Cup champions, the Detroit Red Wings.

never in my life has one decision impacted me so greatly as did the decision to jump ship from Leaf nation at a very very early age to join the big red machine.  sure back then the Wings were still considered the ‘dead wings’ so it wasn’t a tough choice abandoning one sinking ship for another.  but oh how the Wings turned it around and became one of pro sports’ premiere clubs.

since up here in canada they frown on the Wings(yet for some reason seem to love teams like Washington, Tampa Bay or Phoenix), getting to see games is very difficult.  i believe this private box to be the perfect solution.

not only would my dad and i get to attend every game but we’d also get to have those s’awesome Detroit pretzels!  not to mention walking the halls of a real nhl arena loaded with history, class and more memorabilia than you could shake a stick at.
(note: i don’t get that saying but it still holds true)

really it’s a win-win for everyone involved.  and by ‘everyone involved’ i mean my dad and i.

Bacon!

i’m not talking about Kevin Bacon, nor Francis Bacon…although both are awesome in their own way, i mean who could forget kevin bacon’s legendary belly-flop off the dock at camp crystal lake in the original friday the 13th!?

i’m simply referring to good old fashioned bacon!  that would be nice to have right about now.

it’s very difficult to find a food that actually excites me or makes me want to keep eating until i essplode but bacon’s crispy, greasy goodness that often gives me gut rot is too good to pass up.  all the coffee/bacon indigestion is more than worth the price to pay for enjoying such a delicious treat.

today’s twbnth isn’t something you can find in stores or on any late night informercial.(at least none that i’ve seen).  no, this item full of s’awesome was found thanks to the beauty of the internets.

ladies and gentlemen, i give you….my own private island!

ok so i don’t own my own island…yet.  but thanks to the good people at www.privateislandsonline.com, i can at least check out my options.  i think this guy here to the right is perfectly suited to my ordinary, everyday needs;

-private island : check!
-super-long awesome dock : check!
-at least a 2 bedroom house : check!
-swimming pool : check!

yes, i know a pool on an island is a little ridiculous, it’s already located in the world’s biggest pool!  but i don’t care, if i’m dreaming of my own island here, it’s gonna have a pool darn it!  plus, the ocean gets pretty scary what with all the sharks, eels, whales and mermaids all over the place!

so that’s #2 in my twbnth list.

here’s a new blog topic i’m starting basically for the sake of having something constant to blog about.  i call it ‘That Would Be Nice To Have‘(twbnth for short).  why the name, you ask?
well in short, when i was a youngin i’d always see commercials for G.I.Joe or Voltron or Starcom toys and yell “I Want That!” at the telly.  my mum, being the polite individual she is, taught me that it was rude to say such things so instead i should respond to my childish wants and needs by stating ‘that would be nice to have.’  it’s since become an ongoing inside joke in my family that we still use to this day…

i won’t be mentioning the typical tech specs, product comparisons, diagnostic test results, etc. as most sites do.  i’m simply stating that i want this stuff for my own personal enjoyment.  items could be anything from tech gadgets to hang gliders…whatever sparks the ‘twbnth’ in my brain.

anyways, here’s twbnth #1.  i can’t think of a more fitting product to mention in this inaugural post than the grandaddy of all that is good and lovely, the MacBook Pro.

sleek.  shiny.  super.  s’awesome.

i’d give my 3rd arm for this sucker.  ok so i don’t have a 3rd arm but i’d pay for a 3rd arm to be surgically applied to my body only so i could remove it and give it away for a MacBook Pro.

i admit i am a Mac fanboy, i always check for rumours of the netBook, iPhone nano, apple brain scanner, etc.(ok i made that last one up).  You may think i’m biased because of this but who cares!?  look at that thing!  it’s gorgeous!
(note : aside from it’s prettiness, it also works like a lappy should!  i haven’t seen brains and braun like this since i looked in the mirror this morning.)

so yeah.  #1.  i want a MacBook Pro.
